Kamin Science Center Camps and Kids’ Events feature hands-on experiments, interactive exhibits, and big discoveries across five floors of exhibits. Camp and event activities can include Buhl Planetarium shows, exploring Western Pennsylvania’s history in the Miniature Railroad & Village® exhibit, and coming aboard the Cold War-era submarine USS Requin (SS 481). Some programs also include races on a multi-level, all-electric kart track, cutting-edge racing simulators, more than 25 interactive activities in the Sports360 exhibition, an escape room experience on USS Requin, the Laser Holiday Magic festive laser celebration, and Locomotion Weekend train-focused activities.

Kamin Science Center Camps and Kids’ Events take place at Kamin Science Center, formerly Carnegie Science Center, which includes more than 100 hands-on exhibits, Rangos Giant Cinema, Buhl Planetarium, two live-demonstration theaters, and the Miniature Railroad & Village®. The center is ranked among the top science centers in the United States, is one of the four Carnegie Museums, and welcomes over 500,000 visitors each year. Kamin Science Center is led by Jason Brown, Henry Buhl, Jr., director of Kamin Science Center and vice president of Carnegie Museums; Geovette Washington, chair of the Carnegie Museums’ Board of Trustees; and Dr. Steven Knapp, president and chief executive officer of Carnegie Museums. The organization states that its mission is to connect people and science, igniting curiosity that endures for a lifetime, and it describes itself as a national hub for STEM education in the region that is dedicated to reaching Pittsburgh’s diverse community through dynamic outreach programs and serving as a community hub for dialogue on science and its social implications.
