North Hills Art Center Classes & Camps

North Hills Art Center Classes & Camps offers classes and workshops that focus on art. The program also includes gallery shows where participants can experience artwork on display.

• Schedule: Office and gallery hours Monday–Friday 10:00 am–3:00 pm, plus gallery hours Tuesday evening 7:00 pm–9:00 pm

North Hills Art Center Classes & Camps is part of an organization founded in 1959 by Emily Karlen and Joan Milsom, which became a nonprofit in 1961. The North Hills Art Center opened to the public on May 16, 1969. Its mission is to promote and encourage art education and art appreciation for amateur and professional artists and craftsmen of all ages and abilities, and it emphasizes the healing power of art. The organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit with over 1,000 members and is described as a permanent haven where people can learn, create, express, and appreciate many forms of art.

The program’s gallery hosts regular shows where visitors can view local art, meet the artists, and enjoy live music and refreshments. The center offers Immersive Art Experiences, described as “adult art camps,” for ages 16 and up. Community involvement includes annual North Hills School District student art shows every January, annual animal-themed shows that benefit local animal rescue groups, donating kids’ backpacks filled with art supplies to local food banks, and monthly volunteer visits to local nursing homes to paint with residents.
