Black Rock Christian Camp & Retreat Center is a Christian organization that offers staff-led events and venue space for Christian retreats, Christian summer camps, outdoor education and field trip programs, and group activities, with options for year-round retreats in spring, summer, fall, and winter. Retreats can be weekend or week-long, including short overnight retreats, and can be customized for youth groups, marriage, ministry, and other group types. Lodging options include hotel-style facilities in the Maranatha Retreat Center, motel-style facilities in the Dogwood Motel and Whip-Poor-Will Lodge, and bunk cabins with 10 beds in one large room and private indoor bathrooms, along with indoor and outdoor meeting spaces. Food is served buffet-style and is carefully prepared, and if a group has specific dietary needs and submits an allergy form in advance, the program makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the request. The mission statement explains that the program offers a beautiful place and exceptional programs that encourage growth and help participants reconnect with the Lord and people around them, and programs can include spiritual and biblical components such as worship, prayer, devotions, and biblical class connections.

Funds raised from the Gourmet Golf Outing are used to improve and expand programs at Black Rock, including a camper sponsorship fund that allows the camp to welcome campers to a week of camp regardless of their ability to pay. The BR2RB Bikeathon is a destination cycling challenge from Black Rock Retreat to the Rehoboth Bay Area, and the center also offers a complimentary pastor’s retreat, as mentioned in a testimonial.

Testimonials from campers and guests describe experiences such as a high school camper saying it helps them go back to God and enjoy time without technology while bonding with Christian friends, and a middle school camper saying they learned that God’s truth in the Bible is powerful for the lies in their heart. A parent of a camper reports that it was the first time their son was ever away and that he loved every moment of it, calling it a first overnight summer camp trip he will never forget. An elementary camper says it is very fun, that the counselors are the best, and that they do not want to leave. Other guests, including Judy K., Tony Z., and Mark and Aline S., describe Black Rock as beautiful, with friendly and helpful staff, well-maintained facilities, good food, and accommodations that are no frills with nothing to complain about, and they note positive experiences with both paid retreats and a complimentary pastor’s retreat.
