Summer Alive is an outdoor day camp with a child-directed program of free expression. The program offers a setting where nature sparks an innate sense of awe and wonder, cooperation and kindness are exemplified, and the unique gifts of every child are recognized and fostered.
• Ages: 5–10 years old
• Schedule: One and two-week camp sessions are available for children ages 5–10.
Summer Alive Nature Camp 2026 returns to the woods and Borough Park in Montgomery, PA, with the camp based in a hardwood forest at the end of Bower Street in Montgomery. Summer Alive has been active for 25 years and is an outreach program of Project CoffeeHouse, which was founded in 2001. The mission of Summer Alive is to provide an outdoor day camp offering a child-directed program of free expression where campers experience a supportive, caring, and affirming community. Thanks to the generosity of the Montgomery Water Authority, the vision for a genuine nature camp for kids ages 5–10 has become a reality. The program has received a 5 out of 5 rating, repeated three times with different quotes. Parent and participant feedback includes comments such as, “This was the best day of my whole life,” from a 6-year-old after a day at Summer Alive, “I never knew green beans were so delicious!” from an 8-year-old eating fresh string beans from the Children’s Garden, and “Project CoffeeHouse saved my life,” from a 26-year-old reflecting on youth with Project CoffeeHouse.
