The mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Camp & Retreat Center is to provide authentic opportunities for people to encounter Christ, His Church, and one another through outdoor programming and retreats. Unique features of the programs include Adventure Catechesis, which intentionally weaves the faith naturally into the exciting and fun activities of camp, and outdoor programming and retreats that interrupt busyness, technology, and messaging and create more space for relationship, beauty, and quiet. Three-Day Family Camping is a camp experience designed for families to unplug, reconnect, and grow together in faith and community surrounded by God’s creation. The Young Adult Experience is a summer adventure designed for young adults ages 21–30 to grow in faith, community, and leadership in a beautiful outdoor setting. Summer Camp Adventure Staff positions are paid jobs for young adults age 18 and older.
Dry Bones Ministries is a grassroots evangelization ministry made up of local priests and lay people who want to identify and meet the needs of the people in the Diocese. A testimonial from Gary W. Roney, Former Director of Youth & Young Adult Engagement for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, states that young people need a safe and beautiful place that feels like home, encourages them to know and be themselves, and calls them to the adventure of a lifetime, namely, a friendship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to discipleship, evangelization, and leadership.
