The mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Camp & Retreat Center is to provide authentic opportunities for people to encounter Christ, His Church, and one another through outdoor programming and retreats. Adventure Catechesis at the camp intentionally weaves the faith naturally into the exciting and fun activities of camp, and the outdoor programming and retreats interrupt busyness, technology, and messaging and create more space for relationship, beauty, and quiet. Camp staff are young adults age 18 and older, and camp staff positions are paid jobs for these young adults. The leadership team includes Jennifer Parker, Director of Advancement. Dry Bones Ministries, which is described as a new nonprofit whose mission is to revitalize the faith of and build a future for Catholics in Pittsburgh, is a grassroots evangelization ministry made up of local priests and lay people who want to identify and meet the needs of the people in the Diocese. One testimonial describes that young people need a safe and beautiful place that feels like home, encourages them to know and be themselves, and calls them to the adventure of a lifetime, namely, a friendship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to discipleship, evangelization, and leadership, from Gary W. Roney, Former Director of Youth & Young Adult Engagement, Diocese of Pittsburgh.
