About
L.I.F.E. Summer Youth Camp includes weekly field trips throughout the summer to places such as the Tabor Museum, Reptile Land, Penn’s Cave, Rider Park, and The Little League Museum. Camp activities include structured outdoor play like football, Frisby golf, soccer golf, jump rope, kick ball, roller skating, and other team sports activities. Participants also take part in Horticulture activities, preparing microwavable meals, a Wellness group, cognitive behavioral therapy (Think, Feel, Behave) techniques, a Creative Arts component called “David’s Creative Corner” that uses a free application for creating beats and other music for song writing, singing or poetry, and Bible olympics with a Christian emphasis that incorporates Bible verses from A–Z.

The childcare facilities used for the program are described as bright, colorful and clean, with fun learning tools and toys and guidance from professional teachers and State certified caregivers. Staff includes a Master’s level counselor who teaches cognitive behavioral therapy (Think, Feel, Behave) techniques, along with lead teachers who have a two- or four-year degree in early childhood education. L.I.F.E. Summer Youth Camp is one of the services offered by L.I.F.E. Child Care and Preschool Learning Center (LCCLC), along with a Before and After School Program and a Preschool that uses the Abeka preschool curriculum with a Biblical worldview and age-appropriate, engaging, hands-on learning in a Christian atmosphere that promotes the social, physical, intellectual, and emotional growth of children. The mission of LCCLC is to cultivate a community of families and childcare professionals working together to provide a high quality, safe, stimulating, and positive environment and to enhance the physical, emotional, cognitive, creative, and social development of individual children through play-based learning and discovery, using an emergent and constructivist curriculum that encourages active engagement. The program’s community involvement includes partnering with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the YMCA to teach children about Horticulture by planting, tending, and growing things in a garden.
