About
Nike Basketball Camp at Upside Sportsplex focuses on basketball skills such as shooting technique, ball-handling skills, team play tactics, defense, and positional play. Campers take part in drills, competitive play, and a Friday Clinic as part of the Complete Skills camp format. Instruction takes place on indoor courts.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Complete Skills camp, Session I runs July 21–24 with daily hours from 9:00am–5:00pm Monday–Thursday
• Price: If a group of 5 or more campers registers for the same camp, each camper receives a $25 discount; if a group of 10 or more campers registers for the same camp, each camper receives a $40 discount; Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $35
TJ Jones serves as Camp Coordinator and is the founder and lead skills director of Ultimate Champions Basketball Academy, and a National Nike Basketball Camp Director. Coach Jones has over 22 years of basketball experience as a player, coach, and player development instructor, and Ultimate Champions Basketball Academy has over 22 years of training and coaching experience with all age groups and skill levels. The camp’s stated vision is to help players enhance skill development, athleticism, explosiveness, and overall game through positive and challenging instruction. The camp is described as the ideal spot for players of all abilities to hone their game in the Houston metro area.
Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, and the program offers a Complete Skills camp with a unique program emphasis each week. Multi-day and single-day session options are available, and a Friday Clinic is offered. Nike Basketball Camp T-shirts and prizes are included with multi-day camps. Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury, and the medical protocol includes transport to the nearest hospital in case of an emergency.
Lunch is not provided, so campers bring a sack lunch and snack each day, and no food or drinks are available for purchase. Basketballs are provided for instruction, and campers do not need to bring their own ball. Players should have at least one pair of well-broken-in basketball court shoes. Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration and are passed out on the last day of camp, and players can choose between a size 6 (28.5", standard girls) or size 7 (29.5", standard boys) ball.
