Kids, Inc. offers a wide range of sports activities, including NFL FLAG FOOTBALL - SELECT and NFL FLAG FOOTBALL - RECREATIONAL, tackle football, cheerleading, fall volleyball session 1, and fall outdoor soccer. The program also includes baseball through the Amarillo Area Youth Baseball League, Canyon Baseball Association, and West Texas Youth Baseball League, as well as West Texas Fastpitch Draft and Select softball, T-Ball, basketball for boys and girls including winter basketball, hockey, pickleball, indoor and outdoor soccer in both competitive and recreational formats, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball. Kids, Inc. offers youth recreational leagues along with adult and youth competitive leagues, and it is described as Amarillo’s Premier Youth Sports Program.

Founded in 1945, Kids, Inc. has grown from 11 boys from Glenwood Elementary to what is described as one of the nation’s largest comprehensive youth sports programs, celebrating over 79 years of working with youth in the Amarillo, Texas area. Kids, Inc. is a non-profit with a stated mission to develop skills, character, and confidence for children in the Amarillo/Canyon region through quality sports experiences and is described as having a passion for youth sports. The organization reports that over 18,000 players and 4,000 volunteer coaches participate annually, and in 2024 specifically, 17,929 kids participated in a sports season, 6,684 games were played, 27 unique sports seasons were offered, and 4,287 volunteers and coaches gave their time.
Kids, Inc. offers inclusive team sports for kids and states that it provides barrier-free access to sports programs for all children, with a commitment to inclusivity so that every child, regardless of background or ability, has the opportunity to participate and thrive. The program offers three league types—Traditional Sports, Draft Sports, and Select Sports—as referenced by its three league types registration guides. For AAYBL/CBA Draft Baseball and WTXFP Draft Softball, players must be paid before the date of the draft in order to be placed on a team; in West Texas Youth Baseball and West Texas Fastpitch Select, coaches pay the team fee; in Fall NFL Select Flag Football, players must pay by the posted deadline and Kids, Inc. does not form the teams in this league; and registration fees must be paid by the payment deadline for each sport.
The leadership team includes Teresa Arrieta as Program Assistant, Dalton Bell as NFL Flag Administrator and founder and commissioner of West Texas NFL FLAG, Haley Bell as Vice President for Development, Keva Bell as Assistant to the President & CEO, and Jerry Branch as Director of Programs. Dalton Bell went on to play professional football in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, and Seattle Seahawks, and in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts; he is a member of the WTAMU Hall of Champions and the Canyon ISD Athletics Hall of Fame and serves on the WTAMU Hall of Champions selection committee. Kids, Inc. Sports Network produces a podcast hosted by Lance Lahnert and Jimmy Lackey.
Rockrose Sports Park was generously donated by Rockrose Development and is described as a 90-acre outdoor complex that is part of a $30 million capital campaign to construct a state-of-the-art athletic complex for the Amarillo/Canyon region. Kids, Inc. serves children in the Amarillo/Canyon region and the Texas Panhandle and reports that it has positively impacted over 1 million individuals across the Amarillo area and the Texas Panhandle.
Donor Willie and Amy Daughters from Houston, Texas, describe Kids, Inc. as having been an important part of their young lives in the Texas Panhandle and say that Kids, Inc. helps kids learn social skills, teaches them how to win and lose, and ultimately how to compete, while giving boys and girls an outlet to stay physically fit. Volunteer coach Eddie Huskey states that his favorite part about coaching and officiating for Kids, Inc. is watching kids have the opportunity to shine in front of their family and teammates, and he notes that, win or lose, they are growing and learning during their time as players at Kids, Inc. in any sport. Sports official and volunteer coach Will Hodge says he has seen kids play sports year after year from kindergarten through middle school, then go on to play in high school and sometimes at the college level, and he states that Kids, Inc. focuses not only on developing children’s athletic skills but also their character through sports experiences.
