Summer Day Camp is built around exciting themes and offers day camps for Pre-K and school-aged children, with both indoor and outdoor options. Preschool camps for ages 4–5 who have not completed Kindergarten include hands-on learning activities, splash time, and themed weeks with special guests, and all preschool campers in this age group must be fully potty trained with no pull-ups. Kids in Pre-K Day Camps spend at least 30 minutes engaging in outdoor activities, campers at Outdoor Camps spend a majority of their time outside, and campers at Indoor Camps spend a majority of their time inside. Summer Day Camps provide uninterrupted enrichment-based care for families who need full-day support, and snacks and/or meals are included. Bathroom independence is a prerequisite for all childcare programs, including Pre-K and School Age Day Camps.
YMCA Summer Day Camp is part of an organization with 135+ years serving the community, and its mission states that promoting a healthy lifestyle is at the heart of its work. The leadership team includes Elise Back, Chief Growth Officer. The organization is partnered with Childcare Group or Texas Workforce at select camps each season and, in partnership with the City of Waxahachie and Ellis County, Texas, has broken ground on the Cindy Hess Memorial Park next to the Waxahachie Family YMCA.
Families have shared feedback such as, “Very helpful for working mothers to have such camps! Appreciate this!” from Saifun Nahar and “The kids enjoyed the camp. The staff were wonderful. Thank you so much.” from Mohd Khaled. Other comments include, “My kids loved camp. It was a last minute decision to send them to camp, but it was a great decision. They loved the counselors and always had a story to tell.” from Lindsey Flores, and “My son had wonderful week at Camp Broken Arrow. He went to camp excited and came home from camp tired but happy!” from Lauren Hollis. Additional testimonials describe support through scholarships and health programs from parents and participants such as Mayela and Shirley. Summer 2026 enrollment opens February 1st, and the Super Sign Up Weekend Promotion offering 50% off the registration fee runs from February 27th to March 2nd.
