About
Austin Creative Art Center Classes & Camps offers art classes and camps where students work with painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and mixed media. Participants use materials and techniques such as acrylic paint, watercolor, gouache, oil, ink, pen and ink, charcoal, white charcoal, pastels, chalk pastel, oil pastel, prisma-color pencil, graphite, collage, murals, airbrush, india ink, clay, paper-mache, wire, oil clay, foam core, paper-cut-out, carving, throwing on the wheel, silk screen, and block printing. Classes also include calligraphy, art history study, and the study of contemporary artworks.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Adult classes on weekdays in the evenings; kids’ classes on weekday afternoons with weekly holiday and summer camps; classes typically meet in 2-hour sessions once a week; drop-ins require 24 hours’ advance notice
• Price: Tuition may vary depending on class type, duration, quantity and materials.
Austin Creative Art Center Classes & Camps offers art classes for all ages from 2 to 99, with separate kids’ and adult classes, as well as custom art experiences for group or corporate events. All supplies are included for classes, and enrollment is ongoing, with gift certificates available for classes, camps, and events. Class, camp, and event packages are non-refundable and non-transferable, and the environment is described as a safe place that empowers students and allows their creative abilities to grow.
The program’s leadership team includes founder, instructor, and “Passionary” Marolyn Zoey Upshaw, Marketing Director and “Visionary” Carlyn Filtsch, and artist and imagineer Taylor Filtsch. The stated philosophy is that the program teaches students tools for success in how they express art and how they express life. Community involvement includes Zoey’s Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Donate for Zoey initiative.
One testimonial notes that through class instruction and individual attention, the curriculum guides students in how to paint, draw, sculpt, print, and more, and that students become immersed in projects. Another testimonial from Zoey Upshaw states, “When students come into the studio, they receive a gift. When they leave, they are the gift.”
