Muny Conservancy Junior Golf Programs include junior golf camps and junior golf tournaments. These programs take place at Lions Municipal Golf Course (Muny), which hosts over 60,000 rounds of golf each year and stages more charity tournaments than any other Austin golf course. Lions is also the home course to a dozen middle and high school teams and annually hosts UIL State Tournaments, junior golf camps and tournaments, and The Firecracker, one of the oldest and most prestigious amateur tournaments in Texas.

Lions Municipal Golf Course was established in 1924 and was the first municipal golf course in the South to be peacefully integrated in the fall of 1950, remaining until 1953 the only municipal course in the South where Black golfers were welcomed. The course sits on a water recharge zone and is described as a wildlife sanctuary with some of the most beautiful and oldest heritage oaks in the city. The Muny Conservancy’s mission is to continue to preserve, restore and protect this recreational green space for future generations, and it pledges to keep Muny affordable and accessible to everyone. The organization is led by Austin native Ben Crenshaw, a two-time Masters Champion and renowned golf course architect who grew up playing Muny, serving as Muny Conservancy Co-Chair, with Scott Sayers as The Muny Conservancy contact and Suzanne Erickson as the press inquiries contact. Once Muny is saved, the Muny Conservancy plans to restore the historic course with world-renowned golf course architect Coore & Crenshaw leading the work, expand the driving range and practice pavilion, add new public areas for community events, and create a museum and symposiums teaching the importance of what happened at Lions more than 70 years ago as a Civil Rights Landmark. One testimonial states that a native Austinite and product of The University of Texas will stake their reputation to protect Muny and that the goal is to find a win-win solution that preserves this course and green space as affordable and public for future generations to enjoy.
