Christian Youth Theater (CYT) Austin

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) Austin offers classes in drama, voice, dance, and behind-the-scenes training in makeup, costumes, and tech. It also offers Broadway-style musical production opportunities, where students may audition for the current production or serve on the backstage crew, technical team, or as an usher. Camps include games, activities, interactive workshops, and a concluding showcase.

Programs

• Classes — ages 8-18 · Once a week for two hours, during Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions; generally in the evening from 6pm-8pm · Includes drama, voice, dance, and behind-the-scenes training in makeup, costumes, tech, and more. Classes culminate in a Showcase.
• Shows / Broadway-style musical production opportunities — ages 8-18 · Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions; production rehearsals are held on Saturdays from 9am-3pm, then 9am-4pm during the last weeks before the show opens · Enrollment in CYT classes provides the opportunity to audition for the current production. Students may also participate behind-the-scenes, on the backstage crew, technical team, or as an usher.
• Camps — ages 4-18 · Summer; week-long day camps · Includes games, activities, interactive workshops, and a concluding showcase. Teen camps include praise, worship, prayer, and daily devotions.
• HYPE! Highschool Youth Pursuing Excellence — high school youth · Monthly meetings; yearlong program · By application only.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• General schedule: Three sessions a year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. A Summer session is also offered. Classes are 8 weeks plus a Showcase for Winter 2027, and production rehearsals are on Saturdays.

About the provider

CYT Austin was founded in 2015. Christian Youth Theater was founded in 1980. Christian Youth Theater says it develops character and creativity through quality theater arts training that brings families and communities together while reflecting Jesus.

Students are required to be enrolled in a CYT class in order to audition for the season production. Students missing more than two classes are in jeopardy of not performing at showcase and attendance may affect their role in a show. No refunds or changes within 2 weeks before the first day camp/class begins. Camps do not offer refunds or cancellations except medical or family emergencies. Tuition must be paid in full in order to register online for camp/class.
