Proximity Learning Tutoring is part of Proximity Learning, which reports over a decade of experience teaching synchronously in K–12 schools across the country and more than 14 years of synchronous teaching overall. The organization states a mission of breaking down barriers to connect all learners with the expert teachers they deserve and describes a focus on educational equity for students everywhere. Proximity Learning reports staffing over 3,000 classrooms with teachers and partnering with more than 400 schools and districts across the United States, including a partnership with St. Helena Parish that began in 2018. The organization also notes that it connects partner districts with various organizations to learn about education trends and with educators across the nation.

All Proximity Learning teachers are described as certified, qualified teachers. The leadership team includes Founder and President Evan Erdberg; Vice President of Operations and Strategy Dr. Michael Robinson; Vice President of Product Danielle Erdberg; Director of Technology Joseph Mouhanna; Director of Human Resources John Rollack; Director of School Partnerships Annette Logsdon-Rodriguez; Director of Marketing David Cardona; Vice President of Customer Success Myken Caviness; and Director of Virtual Schools Kip Pygman.

In testimonials from St. Helena Parish Superintendent Dr. Kelli Joseph, the district reports using Proximity Learning to place certified teachers virtually in classrooms where it was difficult to find local, qualified teachers. Dr. Joseph notes that Proximity Learning has been used to fill vacancies, including during COVID-19, and describes that the partnership has impacted upwards of 100 high school students in a school of about 520 students. She states that, at the district level, they know students are receiving instruction from certified teachers rather than having a substitute teacher for long periods. Dr. Joseph also reports that representatives from Proximity Learning connected the district with educators and organizations across the nation and that the system for students to access and communicate with teachers is simple for tech-savvy children.
