T&C Sports Youth Sports Programs offers youth sports in baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, futsal, and kickball. Activities take place on the T&C Sports campus using fields, game courts, and gyms that are part of the T&C Campus. The Town & Country Optimist Club, which runs these programs, is a nonprofit organization formed in 1974.
The Town & Country Optimist Club states that its mission is to promote the ideals of Optimist International and support the North Austin area by providing quality youth sports facilities and programs. According to the Club, its goals are to provide opportunities for all who wish to participate and to promote an environment of learning and sportsmanship in all activities, and it also supports youth development through involvement in selected youth-oriented community activities. The organization highlights the phrases “Play Hard – Play Fair – Have Fun,” “YOUR HOME FOR YOUTH SPORTS,” and “CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF YOUTH SPORTS,” and notes that developing good character in players is a core element of T&C’s mission. The Club states that coaches teach not only skills, but the values of sportsmanship, and that everyone is expected to demonstrate respect and positive behavior on the field, in the stands, and in the parking lots. The program also makes a Financial Assistance Application, a Refund Request Form, and a Field Rental Request Form available.
One parent testimonial says, “Thanks so much for making this season a great success. We fully understand the enormous effort that goes into this, and greatly appreciate everything that you continue to do to make this possible for all the players. All three of our kids had a wonderful experience.” Another testimonial from a coach states, “I truly cherished the opportunity to work with these young girls and share with them the sport that has so profoundly shaped my life and helped mold who I am today.”
