The Town & Country Optimist Club, which operates T&C Sports, is a nonprofit organization formed in 1974. Its mission is to promote the ideals of Optimist International and support the North Austin area by providing youth sports facilities and programs, with goals that include offering participation opportunities for all who wish to join and promoting an environment of learning and sportsmanship in all activities. The Club also supports youth development through involvement in selected youth-oriented community activities. T&C Sports highlights that developing good character in players is a core element of its mission, and coaches teach both sports skills and the values of sportsmanship. The organization states that everyone is expected to demonstrate respect and positive behavior on the field, in the stands, and in the parking lots, and it uses the phrases “Play Hard – Play Fair – Have Fun,” “Your home for youth sports,” and “Celebrating 50 years of youth sports.” T&C Sports offers a Financial Assistance Application, a Field Rental Request Form, and a Refund Request Form, and families can sign up for a newsletter that shares updates, events, exclusive offers, and registration announcements.
One parent testimonial from David and Andrea Smith thanks the program for making a season a great success and notes that all three of their children had a wonderful experience. Another testimonial from Brooke Boggs Wood states that she cherished the opportunity to work with young girls and share with them a sport that shaped her life.
