Steve & Kate’s Camp has been operating since 1980 and offers summer day camps for kids aged 4–12, and is designed for children entering PreK through 7th grade. Camp generally accepts children aged 4 to 13 years old, and the camp age limit is 13, with campers who turn 14 while attending allowed to finish out the summer. All campers must be fully toilet trained, able to speak up for their needs, and able to get through the camp day without a nap. The camp’s mission states that during summer, campers choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. Steve & Kate’s Camp offers mentorship programs for children aged 14 and 15, where mentees help facilitate camp activities, engage with campers, encourage camper connection and participation, and use self-directed learning.
The program allows campers to choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. Parents can buy any number of days and send their child to camp on any day they choose, with drop-off and pick-up allowed at any time within camp hours. All-inclusive rates cover all camp hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm, snacks and lunch, and any activities that interest the child. Families receive automatic full refunds for unused purchased Day Passes at the end of the season, and if a Summer Pass is underused, the difference from the daily rate is automatically refunded. For the Mentorship Program, unused Mentorship Day Passes are automatically refunded at summer’s end, and if fewer than 30 days are used on a Mentorship Summer Pass, the difference from the daily rate is automatically refunded.
For the 37’ Double Lane Slip and Slide, campers should bring a labeled swimsuit, towel, and water shoes or sandals, and they can arrive in their swimsuit but should bring an extra labeled change of clothes. For go-karts, helmets are available for campers to use, or families can send a labeled helmet from home. Steve & Kate’s Camp reports having more than 90 summer camp locations. The camp’s leadership at this site includes a Director named Abbey.
Testimonials about Steve & Kate’s Camp include comments from Andrew Stanton, Director of WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory, who says that children at the camp “blossom and discover a freedom of identity” and that “kids find their thumbprint at Steve & Kate’s.” Apple’s Hot News states, “If kids ruled the world, it might look something like Steve and Kate’s Camp.” Variety magazine notes that many children of people working at Pixar and Industrial Light & Magic attend, and The Washington Post describes the camp as a blend of traditional camp experiences with a modern, tech-focused approach. The Chicago Tribune states that “working parents’ worries dissipate as they contemplate Steve & Kate’s model.”
