Camp Blessing Texas

Camp Blessing Texas is a Christian special needs summer camp where campers take part in activities such as canoeing, archery, horseback riding, water games, a ropes course, a zip line, a rock wall, fishing, arts and crafts, theme nights, music, swimming, variety shows, sports, and crafts. Activities are adapted to individual ability levels, and the camp is a barrier-free camp with all traditional summer camp activities customized for full participation for all levels of ability, including wheelchair, crutch, and walker users, as well as medically fragile campers. Campers are treated like rock stars, and the camp offers a 1:1 camper-to-counselor ratio.

Camp Blessing Texas is a residential Christian summer camp for children and young adults with special needs and their siblings, and is one of the few camp ministries in the country offering all of the traditional summer camp activities customized for full participation for all levels of ability, including wheelchair, crutch, walker users, and medically fragile campers. Everything is customized to make camp accessible, including specially trained staff, facilities and activities, menus, and clinic. The camp is a Christian special needs summer camp focused on showing the encompassing love of Christ to those who often experience exclusion, ridicule, and self-esteem-damaging treatment by peers. Camp Blessing exists to provide help and hope to people of all abilities through Christ-centered camp experiences.

Camp Blessing Texas has operated as a Christian special needs summer camp since 2006. For 10 years, Camp Blessing subsisted by renting and retrofitting several campgrounds on the outskirts of Houston and throughout East Texas each summer. Camp Blessing purchased a 158-acre retreat facility in 2016, and its permanent home opened in the summer of 2017 with amazing new cabins, renovated meeting spaces, and accessible outdoor recreation amenities, along with the capability to host programming year-round and host outside groups for retreats and other special events. Since 2006, more than 2,600 campers, accompanied by 4,100 one-on-one counselors, have attended, and more than 6,300 campers and volunteers have experienced this ministry.

Volunteers at Camp Blessing Texas are trained and supervised by an experienced, paid staff. Camp Blessing utilizes a committed force of volunteers who donate time and money for the opportunity to serve. Camp Blessing Texas is an award-winning Christian summer camp ministry.
