Camp Blessing

Camp Blessing is a Christian special needs summer camp where campers take part in activities such as canoeing, archery, horseback riding, water games, a ropes course, a zip line, a rock wall, fishing, arts and crafts, theme nights, music, swimming, variety shows, and sports. The camp offers a week-long residential experience with a one-on-one camper-to-counselor ratio, and activities are adaptive and customized for campers who use wheelchairs, crutches, or walkers, as well as medically fragile campers. Everything at Camp Blessing, including staff training, facilities, activities, menus, and the clinic, is customized to make camp accessible, and campers are treated like rock stars.

Camp Blessing exists to provide help and hope to people of all abilities through Christ-centered camp experiences. It is described as an award-winning Christian summer camp ministry and is a residential Christian summer camp for children and young adults with special needs and their siblings. Camp Blessing has existed since 2006, rented and retrofitted several campgrounds on the outskirts of Houston and throughout East Texas for 10 years, purchased a 158-acre retreat facility in 2016, and opened this new camp home in the summer of 2017. Volunteers at Camp Blessing are trained and supervised by an experienced, paid staff, and the camp utilizes a committed force of volunteers who donate time and money to serve. The camp is described as a barrier-free camp with the capability to host programming year-round, as well as host outside groups for retreats and other special events.
