Rio Vista Farm Camps and Riding Lessons offers English riding through private and group riding lessons. The program includes Hunter Jumper boarding and Hunter Jumper training, with lessons available for beginner riders, including those who have never ridden, as well as competitive riders. Riders may take part in in-house horse shows for entry level riders and may also be involved in competing at the “A” show level across Texas and the US.
• Ages: 7–16 years old
Day camps are offered for Summer, Winter, and Spring Break for children ages 7–16, with groups arranged by the age and skill level of each student. Rio Vista Farm is a full care Hunter Jumper boarding and Hunter Jumper training facility with a large covered arena, outdoor arena, and grass field, and it is newly relocated to 1225 Creek Road in Dripping Springs. The farm is one of the few “show” barns to offer a start in riding for those who do not own their own horse or pony.
Rio Vista Farm has been in operation since 1995. The leadership team includes Head Trainer Susan McMorris and Assistant Trainers Emilie Gardner, Lauri Bothern, and Haylee Mynyk. Susan began her professional career in 1984 after graduating from Meredith Manor School of Equestrian Studies; Emilie attended West Texas A&M, graduating with a degree in Equine Industry and Business as well as Animal Science; Lauri graduated from St. Andrews College with a Business degree; and Haylee Mynyk has 25 years of experience teaching riders of all levels. The mission of Rio Vista Farm and Susan and Bill is to spread their love of the sport and the horse by offering training, instruction, and care to riders and horses or ponies of all levels.
Rio Vista Farm is known as the leading English riding barn in Austin, Texas and is described as the leading Hunter Jumper barn in Austin, Texas. Susan currently serves as a Board Member of the Texas Hunter Jumper Association. The farm offers in-house horse shows for entry level riders and competes across Texas and the US at the “A” show level, including shows in Louisiana, Mississippi, Colorado, Kentucky, California, and Florida. Rio Vista trained riders and horses are seen regularly in the year-end high point standings at the national, state, and local levels, with current and past award winners in the Junior Hunter and Eq. divisions, Children and Adult Hunter divisions, Children and Adult Jumper Division, and Jr Jumper through Grand Prix. Rio Vista Farm helps build the local horse community by being one of the few “show” barns to also offer a start in riding for those who do not own their own horse or pony.
