Camp Fire First Texas offers overnight summer camp, nature day camp, grief camp, outdoor education field trips, family camping weekends, camp rentals and retreats, afterschool programs featuring STEAM based curriculum, summer and school break day camps, and the Teens in Action leadership program. Programs include camping, licensed afterschool enrichment, teen services, environmental education, and school readiness, along with professional development for early educators.
Camp Fire First Texas has been an inclusive, innovative leader in youth development since 1914. Woven into every Camp Fire experience is a research-based and measurable framework for thriving. The mission states that Camp Fire connects young people to the outdoors, to others, and to themselves through playful, inclusive, affordable, and powerful out-of-class experiences. According to the mission, children and youth find a safe, fun and inclusive place where they form lasting relationships, develop a sense of belonging and make positive contributions to the lives of their families and their community, and programs enable people to develop essential skills that have long-term benefits and make a positive social impact in the world. The leadership team includes Melanie Marshall, Vice President of Youth Development, and Jenny Wester, Chief Program Officer. Funding is provided through grants and contributions from foundations, as well as individuals and corporations.
