About

The Summer Reading Program centers on reading throughout the summer and logging that reading in Beanstack. Participants read, log their reading and activities in Beanstack, and take part in a range of activities all summer long. The challenge is complete when a participant has logged 40 days, with the option to continue reading and logging up to 60 days.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer Program May 31 – August 2, 2025; challenge complete at 40 logged days, with the chance to read up to 60 days

Pre-registration for the Summer Reading Program opens May 19. The program uses Beanstack for tracking reading, and participants earn a badge in Beanstack for every 5 days of reading. For every 5 days of reading, participants also place an entry into one of the grand prize drawings, and reading past the 40-day goal adds more entries into these drawings. Extra badges are available by reading up to 60 days, and winners will be drawn randomly beginning August 4, 2025. Completing the program is not required to be eligible for the final drawing as long as the participant has earned at least one badge, and the challenge is open for all ages. With one Beanstack account, a family can set up and manage reader profiles for all family members.

The mission of the Hewitt Fire Department, which lists Jonathan Christian as Fire Chief, is to provide the highest quality protection to preserve lives and property of the citizens of Hewitt through training, education, fire prevention, and respect for citizens. The program invites participants to join other members of the Hewitt community and beyond by taking part in a range of activities all summer long.
