Kidventure Camps Houston began in 1994 as an outgrowth of a summer program at Biron Gymnastics in West Houston and has delivered summer camp to Houston families for over 32 years. Its core mission is to bring children together, help build kids’ lives, support their mental, physical, and social well-being, and create a place where confidence and hope thrive. The program is led by Founder and President Mike McDonell and is certified by the American Camp Association. Every team member passes comprehensive background checks, receives ongoing training, and all counselors are certified in CPR, First Aid, and emergency response protocols. Kidventure hires staff who embody high character, emotional intelligence, leadership potential, and genuine care for children, and maintains a low camper-to-staff ratio with a maximum 8:1 ratio.
Kidventure Camps Houston reports being trusted by over 10,000 Texas families since 1994, serving 10,000+ families yearly, with 85% returning year after year and a 4.9/5 average parent rating. One parent described the curriculum as including both fun outings such as trips to Typhoon Texas, Top Golf, and Battlefield Houston and service activities like volunteering at local food pantries and creating snack packs and hygiene kits for homeless individuals, along with weekly group discussions centered around core values such as trustworthiness and authentic communication. Another parent noted that their child “plays all day without TV” and sleeps very well at night after camp. Kidventure also operates Camp Rainbow Days through its non-profit Ollie’s Kids, providing summer camp experiences to children experiencing homelessness. Questions by phone are taken Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM CT, and registration for 2026 begins February 4, 2026, at 9:00 AM.
