About
Hunter Dance Center Youth & Summer Programs offers classes and camps in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Acro, Aerial Dance, Aerial Silks, Stretch & Flexibility, Aerial Fabric, Lyra, Trapeze, Circus Arts, Yoga, Pilates, and dance related fitness classes. The program includes Summer Dance Theater & Aerial Camps as well as intensive dance experiences and a full Summer Study Program for college and professional dancers.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer Dance Theater & Aerial Camps run June 10 – July 26 with full and half day options for ages 7–13 and half day options for ages 3–6; intensive dance experiences run June 29 – August 9; the full Summer Study Program for College and Professional Dancers runs June 10 – September 6.
Hunter Dance Center Youth & Summer Programs is led by Director Annie Arnoult, an award winning choreographer named in Dance Magazine's “25 to Watch” and a dance education specialist. Classes are taught by Houston's premier professional dancers, and Open Dance Project company members teach throughout levels and programs. The program is home to the award winning professional dance company Open Dance Project, whose season of world-class dance theater performance is developed and rehearsed at Hunter. The mission of Hunter Dance Center states a belief in training excellence from the ground up, emphasizing dedication, passion, hard work, respect for self, fellow dancers, teachers, and the space, as well as safety, grit, determination, creativity, excitement, and joy. Parents describe the teachers as wonderful and talented, note that children have enjoyed summer theatre and day camps, and highlight the aerial program’s instructors, progressions for learning aerial skills, and the way some children have returned to performing with increased confidence.
