Project Play Discovery Museum is part of Project Play, described as the DFW MidCities Premier Learning Studio. The Discovery Museum is described as a place where kids are free to explore, problem-solve, and learn through hands-on fun, and it is designed for children of all learning styles to engage in hands-on experiences that combine education and fun. Walk-ins are always welcome for open play.

The program’s mission states that play is at the heart of learning and that Project Play serves as a community hub where families come together to spark curiosity, creativity, and joy. The mission also states that Project Play aims to give kids a strong foundation for life and to support them in growing into confident, capable, and compassionate adults while creating memorable experiences.

Project Play also includes Discovery School, a hybrid school program that blends play, STEM, and academic elements, and offers seasonal camps for ages 3–7 that focus on imagination, exploration, and discovery through hands-on activities, creative play, and movement. Storybook Collective, led by the same founder, is described as an educational resource that supports reading skills through play and uses a subscription model as part of the founder’s expansion into Project Play.

The founder, Alera, leads Project Play and is also the business owner of Storybook Collective. She earned her BS from Baylor University and taught as an elementary educator in both public and private school settings. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2015 and received multiple education awards during her eight years in the classroom.
