About

Scouting America – Cub Scouts is part of Scouting America’s youth programs and follows the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The program is chartered by Congress to serve the nation’s youth and is non-partisan. Scouting America welcomes all of America’s youth, including girls and young women, into its programs, and aims to give youth experiences in the outdoors and elsewhere where they can grow in a safe environment.

• Ages: 5–11 years old

More than 130 million Americans have been through Scouting America’s programs since its founding. More than 1 million youth are served by 460,000 dedicated adult volunteers in local councils throughout the country, and local councils help chartered organizations deliver the Scouting program and expand it to other community groups. The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Families describe Scouting as a family-based program that offers a group of people who care for and support children, share time and memories together, and work together so everyone can be successful. Parents also say that Scouting makes the most of the time they have with their children and that they want kids to have fun, care for one another, and understand what others might be going through in their lives.
