For youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.” Membership at the Y includes over 125 programs and classes for children, families, and seniors, including new hydromassage and sauna suites. Members receive priority registration and savings on programs such as childcare, camps, global trips, music lessons, robotics, sports, swim lessons, and personal training. The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA engages more than 10,000 families through its programs, services, and events. The YMCA partners with apartment complexes, school districts, and other community organizations to ensure that kids learn the skills necessary to be safe around water. The YMCA opened its doors in temporary offices in Arlington on October 1, 1958, after a $400,000 fundraising campaign led by then-Mayor Tom Vandergriff.
