Art Centre Theatre

Art Centre Theatre offers private lessons in acting, improv, dance, singing, and more. It also offers acting lessons with Jamey Jamison or Bo, singing lessons with Maria Rodriguez, and dance lessons with Siobhan Granthem on Saturdays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Auditions are available for actors ages 12-18 and for touring shows for ages 12-18.

Programs

• Private Lessons — Private lessons offered include acting, improv, dance, singing, and more. One-on-one sessions; one-time 30-minute lesson is $45, or 10-week session is $300 and includes an 11th class free.
• Acting Lessons — $45–$300 · Acting with Jamey Jamison or Bo. $300 for 10 lessons or $45 for 30 minutes.
• Singing Lessons — $45–$300 · Voice with Maria Rodriguez. $300 for 10 lessons or $45 for 30 minutes.
• Dance Lessons — Saturdays 1:00pm-3:00pm · $45–$300 · Dance with Siobhan Granthem. $300 for 10 lessons or $45 for 30 minutes.
• Auditions for Actors — 12-18 · No cost to be in an ACT Production. Audition location: 1400 Summit Ave Suite E Plano Tx.
• Touring Show Auditions — 12-18 · ACT rounds up public, private, and home-school kids ages 12-18. Spots are paid and subject to availability.

About the provider

The Art Centre Theatre's main objectives are to present recurring seasons of theatrical and artistic works, produce new and traditional theatrical works at a low cost to the public, present entertaining and educational children's programming during the school day, evenings, and weekends, satisfy the needs of special audiences, and instill a sense of unity and cohesion through the presentation of works that challenge conventional ideals and commonly accepted mores. Last year, over 700 children were served in the facility.

ACT uses double casting for every show. Audition requirements mentioned include a 1 minute monologue for acting, and for music a 1-minute song with phone instrumentals and no vocals. Auditionees for touring shows must have reliable transportation, an open summer schedule, enjoy children and adults, be willing to learn multiple scripts, and be able to pass a background check/drug test. Preference is given to those who can commit to the tour troupe for a full year, but this is not mandatory.
