Still Water Camps is a Christ-centered sports, adventure, and leadership camp that includes sports training. Sports training at Still Water Camps is led by middle school, high school, and college coaches. Campers use facilities that include a kitchen, pavilion, water slide, river, and cabins.
The camp’s mission states that Still Water Camps creates safe, diverse environments to share the truth of the Gospel through evangelistic and discipleship-focused initiatives to build community and transform lives. Still Water Camps also states that it shares the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ through evangelistic and discipleship-focused initiatives in partnership with the local body of Christ. The organization seeks to serve the community through overnight camp, day camps, and family camps, and its mission extends beyond camp to continued investment, discipleship, and Kingdom-minded involvement for campers and summer staff all year long. Approximately 50% of campers receive scholarships, with about 30% funded internally and 20% funded externally, and the camp brings together kids from many different backgrounds in a setting where they can all have first-time experiences together in adventure and in the love of Christ.
Still Water Camps was formed as a nonprofit in October 2001, and in July 2002 it held its first camp, a boys football camp in Medina, Texas. The founder and part of the leadership team is Matt Moehrig, also known as Coach Mo. One parent, Susan Gerfers, says, “It’s such a joy to be able to watch kids grow and be able to help them with their walk with Jesus. We love Still Water!” Another testimonial from Maleia Taylor says, “This place is so special and I am incredibly thankful I had the opportunity to serve alongside so many others who’s hearts are after the Lord. Thank you Jesus and thank you Still Water!”
