RCT School of Musical Theatre is described as North Dallas' Premier School of Musical Theatre and is celebrating 40 years of arts education, professional entertainment and community engagement, as well as 38 years of Theater Arts Education. Repertory Company Theatre has approximately 10,000 patrons annually and has become a mainstay in the Richardson/North Dallas/Plano community over the past 40 years. The program is taught by professionals in the field, with leadership including Program Director and Director of Education Phillip Slay and Executive Artistic Director Debra Carter, along with directors, music directors, choreographers, technical staff, costumers, production assistants, and board members listed by name. Repertory Company Theatre has been recognized with “Best theater classes for children” by The Dallas Observer, Nickelodeon Parents' Pick, numerous acting/directing nominations from Broadway World-Dallas, and “best theater company” by DMN Guide and Richardson Living Magazine, as well as “best director” from The Dallas Observer.
Student/teacher ratio is kept low at 1 teacher per 15 students, and teachers are firm with enrollment ages, with students expected to be class age by the first class. Auditions are held the first day of class with no preparation needed. RCT supplies costumes for performances, though some simple items such as black soft sole shoes or tights may occasionally need to be provided, and for some contemporary shows students may be asked to wear their own clothing such as jeans and T-shirts. The Theatre and Backstage are restricted areas for security reasons, parents or guests are not allowed in these areas, and the program states that a child's safety and security are important and that children are under staff supervision at all times.
The Addams Family Young@Part has been specially adapted for young performers and is described as a 60-minute edition with dialogue, music, and pacing designed for performers ages 8–16, and the Fall After School Workshop culminates in two performances on October 24 at RCT on Coit. The organization notes “Two Locations. One Great Theatre.” along with free convenient parking and a concession bar.
