Kid’s Resort offers sports and games, arts and crafts, science, cooking, tutoring, special on-site activities, and field trips. The program takes place at Kid’s Resort’s main facility, which includes a large gym, a large playground, a game room with arcades, a science area, an art area, and an area for students to cook.

• Schedule: Before school care, after school care, all-day care, and summer camp options, Monday–Friday, generally between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM
Kid’s Resort’s before school care opens at 6:30 AM, with a van leaving to drop off students at 6:45 AM, and after school care runs from school dismissal (including early release) until 6:30 PM. All-day care and summer camp operate from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and business hours are Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–6:30 PM. All-inclusive tuition during the school year includes tutoring once weekly, program materials, special activities, breakfast for before school care, an afternoon snack for after school care, and breakfast, lunch, and snack for all-day care. Summer camp tuition includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, program materials, special on-site activities, field trips, field trip transportation, and a t-shirt, while sunscreen, bug spray, special field trips on Mondays, and any extra snacks or lunches a child prefers beyond what is offered are not included. The program uses a preferred staff-to-student ratio of 1:18, which is under Texas Child Care Licensing’s ratio of 1:26, and uses the Tuition Express automated payment processing system. Kid’s Resort also provides before and after school programs and care on campus at several Lamar CISD elementary schools, and all-inclusive tuition includes field trips, field trip transportation, and a t-shirt for summer camp.
The owner, Cindy Gifford, received a degree in Family and Child Development from Southwest Texas State University in 1989, and the leadership team includes directors Kyshia D. and Mattea G. Kid’s Resort has provided care at its facility since 2012. The owner began working in her mother’s child care facility in 1982, received her degree in 1989, and in 1997 was awarded an opportunity to start the after-school programs for Lamar CISD, which led to the formation of Tiny Steps Educational Center. She began designing Kid’s Resort and saw the building through completion in June 2012. Kid’s Resort is described as “Where Your Child Can Grow, Make Memories and Be a Kid” and “the ultimate after school destination for children in Richmond, TX” that “has provided a place for school-aged children to learn, have fun, and make memories” and “a nurturing and fun-filled environment where kids can play, socialize, and grow as individuals.”
