The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, which includes the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall, has more than 135 years of history serving the community. It is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas serves almost 200,000 people annually through programs, outreach, and events in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Palo Pinto, and Rockwall counties. A current capital campaign at this branch includes facility construction updates such as parking lot expansion, gymnasium and Group X floor refinishing, and natatorium expansion and renovation into a fully enclosed, year-round aquatic center.

Parent and member feedback about the YMCA includes comments that it is “like a second family and home” and that there is a place for young children in child care, as described by Jill, a YMCA member. Stephen, another member, describes the Y as “a fantastic place for the whole family to have fun, stay fit, and meet great people.” A parent named Mayela reports that the Y provided a scholarship for her son to play baseball during a financial transition. A participant named Shirley in the Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program reports that YMCA staff helped her identify that her blood pressure was in the danger zone, which led to a change in her medication.
