Since 2002, Camp Agape has worked to bring healing and hope to little hurting hearts through its unique, camp-like environments. Its mission statement is “Healing Little Hurting Hearts. A ministry that brings hope to grieving children through energetic camp-like settings.” The program describes that any willing person who has experienced loss can easily volunteer to be trained to help the children, and it notes a specific Lights of Love 2026 fundraiser. One reviewer, Rebecca Ingram, states that Camp Agape is a special place for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one and describes many years of volunteering as rewarding. Another reviewer, Kate Rogers, a funeral director, describes volunteering as a buddy as one of the most meaningful experiences she has had and notes that camp staff helped her feel prepared. Reviewer Alyssa Paskow describes Camp Agape as a safe place for children to grieve and meet other kids with similar losses and as an opportunity for anyone interested in grief counseling to volunteer. Reviewer Betty Scott states that Camp Agape offers compassion, healing activities, community, acceptance and laughter as campers are guided through this faith based program. Reviewer Ed Russey, a grief coach and chaplain, states that as a buddy, grief coach and chaplain, he has seen how God heals little broken hearts at Camp Agape and heals entire families at the family camp.
