• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: 2-week, sleep-away summer camp; Camp SAY 2026 will be held from July 18–July 31
Camp SAY is a program of SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young, a national non-profit organization. It is a 2-week, sleep-away summer camp for young people who stutter, ages 8–18, and combines a traditional camp experience with specialized programs and activities that help kids and teens who stutter develop confidence and independence, improve communication skills, and form important lifelong friendships. Campers are welcomed by a super-friendly staff, many of whom also stutter, and by fellow campers who stutter, and they are free to express themselves without fear or ridicule. Camp programs and activities are specially designed to meet each child’s individual goals and needs, and speech therapy is available. Camp SAY states that it is a life-changing summer camp where young people who stutter are free to have fun and stutter as openly as they choose, and everyone always gets as much time as they need to speak. Camp SAY is an American Camp Association (ACA)-Accredited summer camp.
Morgan’s Camp, where Camp SAY is hosted, is described as a new, $34 million campsite on 102 tree-studded acres of rolling hills that was built with community and connections in mind, creating areas that are a blank canvas ready to be adapted to meet the specific needs of Camp SAY’s campers and programming. Morgan’s Camp offers temperature-controlled cabins with microban flooring and twin extra-large beds, and each bunk has twin extra-large beds, storage cubbies, and microban flooring throughout the cabin, with each cabin having a front porch. Morgan’s Camp offers an extensive variety of activities and challenges that allow campers to safely expand their comfort zones. Morgan’s Camp has committed to being Camp SAY's host for as long as Camp SAY wants to be there, and its mission and the commitment of its staff fit together with Camp SAY Community Standards, with a model built to support programs that create a space of belonging for underserved populations.
Camp SAY’s mission statement is “We believe that every voice matters.” Jane Fraser, President of The Stuttering Foundation of America, says, “SAY creates an environment where kids who stutter can improve their communication skills and, in so doing, gain confidence.” Edward G. Conture Ph.D., CCC-SLP, BRS-FD, Professor Emeritus, Vanderbilt University, says, “Camp SAY allows young people to experience a very accepting and supportive environment. I was impressed with everything from the campers to the counselors to the beautiful country setting.”
