Pearl School of Art: Classes & Camps includes hands-on art programs such as Wild Art Wednesday and ArtStart, along with youth classes, adult classes, and art workshops. Wild Art Wednesday is a hands-on summer art program for families where participants create a new art project each week inspired by a different female artist, with projects that are fun, engaging, and accessible for a variety of ages and skill levels. ArtStart is designed for preschool-aged children and combines storytime with hands-on art activities that spark imagination and build confidence, with each weekly session encouraging creativity, visual learning, and social skills in a fun, supportive setting.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Wild Art Wednesday on Wednesdays in summer from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM, and ArtStart sessions on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
ArtStart class sizes are limited to 10 children for individual attention, and parents and caregivers are invited to join the fun. RSVP is required via Eventbrite for ArtStart, and if a session is full, families can call 281-376-6322 to be added to the waitlist. In Pearl School of Art studios, students explore a variety of projects and techniques designed to build skill, confidence, and artistic expression, with small class sizes that welcome both beginners and experienced artists.
The Pearl School of Art is part of the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, which opened in 2008 in a former county library transformed through local generosity. The museum has hosted over 200,000 visitors and more than 50 exhibitions, and admission at Pearl is free. Enthusiastic museum docents are available for guided tours, and the Pearl offers docent-guided tours for those wishing to schedule ahead of time, along with guided tours and school visits.
The mission of the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is to provide direct, first-hand access to original works of art and other culturally, historically and aesthetically significant objects to a regional, national, and international audience, and to offer outstanding and inclusive educational and public programming. The Pearl School of Art is dedicated to nurturing creativity and cultivating a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Educational support for the Pearl School of Art and other programs is provided by Texas Women for the Arts (TWA), a program of the Texas Cultural Trust, and the Summer Makerspace is sponsored by AAUW North Harris County Branch, Houston Brick Club, and Bricks & Minifigs Spring and Tomball.
Mark, who is involved with the program, is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Architecture, and is a registered architect in Texas. The museum extends its reach through partnerships with schools, restaurants, community centers nationwide, technology, and satellite venues.
