About
Camps by KT offers hands-on activities in public speaking, arts, STEM, empowerment, culinary projects, and service initiatives. Campers take part in science and engineering projects, cooking, author readings, and crafting art during camp sessions.
• Schedule: Summer camp runs June 1–August 7, with Pre Camp Hours from 7:45 AM–8:00 AM, Day Camp Hours from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and Extended Hours from 4:00 PM–5:30 PM. Parent’s Night Out events are offered on March 27th, April 10th, and May 1st.
Camps by KT follows a curriculum that focuses on six key pillars: Science, Engineering, Arts, Culinary, Public Speaking, and Empowerment, and includes a daily empowerment poem practiced at camp. The program is a three-time award-winning youth enrichment program and offers a TEEN leadership program for overachieving high school seniors who meet GPA and conduct requirements. All staff are hand-selected individuals with experience working with children who have received extensive training in the vision and values of Camps by KT, and staff are either certified teachers, college students, or high school seniors enrolled in the TEEN leadership program with at least a 3.2 GPA, A/B grades, and perfect conduct. Staff have completed criminal and sex offender background checks, CPR and First Aid training, and a Sexual Abuse Prevention course. The program’s mission is to inspire and empower children through creative, hands-on experiences that foster growth, learning, and exploration, and to provide an environment where they can discover new opportunities, build lifelong skills, and develop confidence to reach their full potential.
Camps by KT is led by founder Kellie Thomas. Camps by KT is a three-time award-winning youth enrichment program located in Fort Bend County, and it was invited to Houston City Hall to open the Women Making History event. The program’s journey began by partnering with daycares such as Kids R Kids, Children’s Lighthouse, and Primrose to provide enrichment services, then expanded to subcontracting with Houston ISD and Pasadena ISD to offer after-school programs at schools including River Oaks, Oak Forest, Mark Twain, and Valley West Elementary, and to leading summer art classes at Lone Star College. Kellie Thomas co-founded LifeLung Nonprofit, leads the Camps by KT For All Foundation, and directs Camp H-Town, a pediatric oncology camp at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston. She is an alumna of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business Program with NYU Stern School of Business (Fall 2024) and has been named one of the 2025 Top 50 Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs in Texas.
