Texarkana Jiu Jitsu has been serving families since 1999 and offers martial arts classes to the Texarkana, Nash, Wake Village, Pleasant Grove, Ashdown, Hope, Fouke, and Liberty Eylau communities. The leadership team includes Dr. Marc Hagebusch (Coach Marc), a 4th degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Master Julio Cesar Pereira with over 35 years of experience in various martial arts and combat systems and 22 years of training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, along with instructors Billy Mullino, Taylor Lee, James Fryer, Trey Pirkey, Christina Givens, Gabe Lohse, and Johnathon Forbes. Coach Marc is a chiropractor, board eligible chiropractic neurologist after completing over 400 post-doctorate hours in clinical neurology through the Carrick Institute, an author, and a lecturer on topics including nutrition, weight loss, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, headaches, Parkinson’s disease, and personal injury, and he has taught post-graduate seminars to chiropractors as well as seminars in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, and grappling. Coach Marc is certified to train others in kettlebells under Mike Mahler and is a veteran of the US Army, where he served primarily overseas as a medic and in the Army Reserves during Desert Storm.

The program’s stated mission is to change lives through martial arts, education, and coaching, with an emphasis on a safe, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere for students and family members and a belief that martial arts can be for everyone regardless of age, gender, or experience level. Texarkana Jiu Jitsu states that preschool Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes help children develop confidence and street smarts while having fun, that the kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program teaches self defense and life skills like focus, discipline, and respect and can help improve grades, and that teen Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is described as the ultimate tech alternative that gets teens active and engaged. The program notes that Texarkana members have seen improvements in as little as 7 days and that families can get started with a free class. Birthday parties at Texarkana Jiu Jitsu are described as stress free for parents and fun for kids, and summer camp is described as an experience kids will not forget, with the statement that martial arts changes lives and empowers kids.

Parent and participant comments include statements that instructors are knowledgeable and great to work with, that kids love the program and instructors are great with them, that families are impressed with the knowledge Coach Marc has, that one child has become more self-disciplined and focused, and that Taylor Lee and the team provided class, instruction, and rounds that one attendee rated “6/5 stars.”
