Camp Huawni offers a range of activities that include time at the waterfront at Huawni Pond, Critter/blob, archery, high ropes, mountain bikes, the giant slide, swimming, and hiking. Campers take part in more than 20 daily activities and experience over 15 special events or night activities during Main Camp. Depending on the session, there are between 100 and 170 campers on camp property, with around 50 college-aged staff hired for the summer and a 3.2:1 camper to staffer ratio reported last summer.

Camp Huawni was established by Earl and Retha Adams in 1965 and has operated since then as a traditional, throwback summer camp for boys and girls. The camp describes itself as “The Best Summer Camp Experience in Texas” and “YOUR SECOND HOME SINCE 1965.” Its mission statement says, “We believe that camp works best when we have simple fun, are outdoors a lot, experience meaningful traditions and ceremonies, and develop authentic friendships.” Camp Huawni states that camp safety gives peace of mind for kids and parents to have fun.
