Camp Huawni was established by Earl and Retha Adams in 1965, and the camp celebrated its 60th summer in 2025. The camp hosts between 100 and 170 campers on camp property depending on the session. Around 50 college-aged staff work at Camp Huawni for the summer, and last summer the camper to staffer ratio was 3.2 to 1. The camp has 14 cabins, with 9 cabins in girls camp and 5 cabins in boys camp, all situated on Flagpole Hill. The leadership team includes Earl Adams and Retha Adams. Camp Huawni states that it believes camp works best when there is simple fun, lots of time outdoors, meaningful traditions and ceremonies, and authentic friendships.
