About
Camp Huawni is a traditional, throwback summer camp for boys and girls that includes more than 20 daily activities. Campers spend time at the waterfront at Huawni Pond, enjoy the Critter/blob, and take part in archery, high ropes, and mountain bikes. They also use the giant slide and take part in swimming and hiking.
Camp Huawni was established by Earl and Retha Adams in 1965 and celebrated its 60th summer in 2025. During Main Camp, campers experience more than 15 special events or night activities. Depending on the session, there are between 100 and 170 campers on camp property, supported by around 50 college-aged staff, and last summer there was a 3.2:1 camper to staffer ratio. There are 14 cabins in total, with 9 cabins in girls camp and 5 cabins in boys camp, all situated on Flagpole Hill. Camp Huawni states that camp safety is emphasized as giving peace of mind for kids and parents to have fun, and it markets itself as “The Best Summer Camp Experience in Texas.”
