About
North Texas Equestrian Center Summer Camp offers a weekly summer camp where children and teens learn basic horsemanship skills and take horseback riding lessons. Campers can refine skills in English riding through dressage riding lessons and hunter jumper lessons.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly Monday–Friday sessions, 9 am to 3 pm
Each 2025 summer camp session runs from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm. Session one is June 2–6, session two is June 9–13, session three is June 16–20, and session four is June 23–27. The program states a mission of offering a weekly summer camp where children and teens can learn basic horsemanship skills and experienced riders can refine their skills in English riding, with a focus on quality, safety, and fun, and a goal of developing confident riders of superior ability through top-rate training from qualified instructors. The camp is led by owner and head trainer Kai Handt, a USDF/USEF Champion and the region’s leading importer of German warmbloods. North Texas Equestrian Center is recognized as a USEF Elite Training Center of Excellence, a US Olympic Certified Training Facility, and a para-lympic sports club, and it serves families from multiple surrounding areas including Allen, Plano, Dallas, Wylie, McKinney, and Fort Worth.
Parents are asked to send campers in long pants, a t-shirt, and boots with a small heel and rubber soles (not cowboy boots), along with a sack lunch, a small snack, and a refillable water bottle. An onsite full-service tack shop offers pants, boots, helmets, gloves, and other items, and new summer camp participants can use a one-time coupon for a 10% discount on tack shop purchases. Each summer camp rider must have an NTEC Release Form on file. Testimonials from riders and boarders describe instruction from owner and coach Kai Handt, access to well-trained dressage horses, attention to horse health and rider safety, long-term boarding relationships, and support during the horse purchase process.
