About
Play-Well TEKnologies Enrichment Programs offers LEGO-inspired engineering classes for kids, including Engineering with LEGO enrichment programs, Engineering with LEGO classes, and Play-Well Engineering classes. Core programs for elementary students include Adventures in STEM and STEM Explorations, and the program also offers Summer Camps, After School and Homeschool Classes, and Birthday Parties. Students work with tens of thousands of LEGO pieces in hands-on, minds-on learning, and they work individually, in teams, and as a group while instructors facilitate challenges, performance testing, competitions, and modifications to projects.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Classes typically meet once per week before or after school for an entire quarter (Fall/Winter/Spring), and session duration is generally 90 minutes.
• Price: Pricing varies based on area, course being offered, number of sessions, etc.
According to the program’s mission statement, Play-Well TEKnologies strives to provide an environment where students can create without fear of mistakes, explore fundamental STEM concepts through play, and express their creativity in ways they never thought possible. Instructors have varied careers and educational backgrounds, including mechanical engineering, architecture, biology, art, geology, education, and civil engineering. These programs are not authorized, sponsored or endorsed by the LEGO Group. Play-Well also offers Play-Well At-Home Videos so students can build and learn along with Play-Well instructors anytime and anywhere.
Parents have shared that their children enjoyed the Engineering with LEGO classes and Play-Well Engineering classes, and several parents mentioned that their children were eager to return each week or each summer. One parent described an instructor as a “5-star instructor” who taught, trained, and guided the children while they explored and had fun, and another parent noted that regardless of who the instructor is, the Engineering with LEGO class “stays strong.” A parent with an engineering background reported that their five-year-old came home and independently built motorized cars and pulley-driven projects after attending class. Other parents commented that their children gained creative “know-how” and that the classes worked well with many different kids, with instructors who were “well-organized and fun” and “so cool with the kids.” The program provides all materials for each course session, and there is no take-home LEGO sent home with the child after camp.
