About
Ascanius: The Youth Classics Institute offers presentations about resources and ideas for the youngest learners, along with specific programs and materials focused on Latin and the ancient world. The program includes “Let’s Learn Latin: Pittsburgh” for elementary and middle school teachers, “The Shooting Star” e-newsletter of lessons and activities about Latin, mythology, and Roman culture, and “eTogaTrek,” an online video series for elementary and middle school students. It also offers “Iter Ascanii: The Journey of Ascanius” as part of its unique features.
The mission of Ascanius: The Youth Classics Institute is: “In these difficult times, we are trying to make affordable programs available to students of all backgrounds.” The program also offers the Rudolph Masciantonio Grant, called the “Classics for All” Grant, which supports events, programs, and projects, as well as a grant for professional development for elementary and middle school teachers to support continuing education.
