The Social Learners, LLC offers speech, language, and social-communication services that include social groups, in-home speech and language therapy, and parent coaching intervention. The program also provides speech therapy services and coaching for teachers, parents, and guardians to support language and social growth for children. Staff offer coaching, collaboration, and instruction to help create opportunities for children to grow in areas such as adaptive, social-emotional, and communication skills.
The Social Learners, LLC is co-founded by Kasey Gray Huynh (M.S. CCC-SLP) and Emily Riedel Porto (M.S. CCC-SLP), both nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologists. Additional team members include Speech-Language Pathologist Victoria Starr (M.S. CCC-SLP) and Early Childhood Special Education teacher Minna Charland (M. Ed.). Kasey Gray Huynh is a licensed, ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist with degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Speech Language Pathology from James Madison University and experience in outpatient hospital clinics, schools, homes, and private practice. She has completed continuing education in DTTC, PROMPT, Autism Spectrum Disorders, AAC, Gestalt Language Processing, and Social Thinking, and has experience serving children with social/pragmatic deficits, articulation disorders, language disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Emily Riedel is a licensed, ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist with degrees from the University of Virginia and Radford University and experience with pediatric clients in school, outpatient, and early intervention settings. She has additional training in PROMPT, the SOS Approach to Feeding, SOFFI, Gestalt Language Processing, and Social Thinking, and is an ADHD-Certified Rehabilitation Services Provider (ADHD-RSP). Victoria Starr is a licensed, ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist with degrees from the University of Maryland and Pennsylvania State University, and she completed a fellowship through the AAC Collaboration Grant focused on individuals with complex communication needs who require AAC. She has experience in schools, outpatient hospital clinics, homes, private practice, and teletherapy, and has evaluated and treated individuals with articulation and phonological disorders, language disorders, gestalt language processing, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, intellectual disabilities, and traumatic brain injury, along with additional training in AAC and Social Thinking. Minna Charland is an Early Childhood Special Education teacher with degrees in Psychology from George Mason University and Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Lynchburg, and she has experience as a licensed Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in schools and as a Developmental Specialist for early intervention. The mission of The Social Learners, LLC states that Kasey and Emily share a passion for seeing children grow in their ability to participate in conversations, play collaboratively, and build relationships with peers through social groups, in-home speech and language therapy, and parent coaching intervention. The team includes Loudoun County natives Emily Riedel and Minna Charland.
