About
Greensville/Emporia 4-H Programs offers 4-H Shooting Sports Clubs that include shooting sports, archery, shotgun, rifle, pistol, and hunting and outdoor skills. The program includes firearm safety and the responsible handling and use of firearms as part of its activities.
• Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
The 4-H Shooting Sports Clubs are founded on the principles of Positive Youth Development, with the program’s goal focused on youth first rather than solely on shooting skills. The mission statement explains that the goal is for youth to feel welcome in the program, grow in leadership independence, be inspired to be generous in service to others, and master skills in the shooting project. Virginia Cooperative Extension, which includes the Greensville/Emporia 4-H office, is a partnership of Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and local governments. USDA and USDA-funded programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs, or retaliating for prior civil rights activity (not all bases apply to all programs).
