Kwon's Champion School was established in 1968. It is led by Head Grandmaster H.Y. Kwon, founder of Kwon's Champion School and Combination Martial Arts, along with Grandmaster Kwon, Master Tiger Kwon, Master Eric Kwon, Master Littlefield, Master Ann Keklak, and Instructor Ricky Phillips (Reverand). Staff credentials include Grandmaster Kwon as a 10th Degree Black Belt, Master Tiger Kwon as an 8th Degree Black Belt, and Master Eric Kwon as a 7th Degree Black Belt. Master Tiger Kwon graduated from George Mason University, and Master Eric Kwon graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry.
Kwon's Champion School states, “We strive to do our best, to help our students build better health and a strong mind, and to instill in our students the fundamentals of a successful life and a peaceful mind.” The school is described as the only school in the area that teaches a combination martial art that incorporates techniques from Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kung Fu, Judo, Hap Ki Do, Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, and weapons training. Grand Master Kwon has provided martial arts classes and instruction in the Virginia area, with additional training locations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Korea. The program states that it strives to make champions in life and focuses on making a positive impact in the community.
Kwon's Champion School has been awarded “Best Martial Arts School” by the U.S. Taekwondo and Martial Arts Grandmaster Federation, “Best Summer Camp” and “Best Gym” by Prince William County Times, and “Best Children’s Entertainment” and “Best Camp and Summer Program” by Lifestyle Magazine.
