TheStudio for Dance & the Arts

TheStudio for Dance & the Arts offers classes in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, musical theater, and acrobatics/acro. TheStudio offers dance classes for girls and boys of all ages and experience levels. The pre-professional company at TheStudio is comprised of 40 members and is connected with The Rockbridge Ballet, a pre-professional company and non-profit dance school in Lexington, VA.

TheStudio for Dance & the Arts serves over 200 students. Advanced and intermediate students are eligible to audition for The Rockbridge Ballet. Company dancers are often accepted to programs including the Joffrey Ballet School, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Nashville Ballet, and the Bates Young Dancer Program. Over 20% of The Rockbridge Ballet members become dance professionals or members of community dance groups as adults. Jessica Pyatt Martin was named Artistic Director in 2009. The Rockbridge Ballet was formed in 1984 under the sponsorship of Fine Arts in Rockbridge (FAIR), incorporated as an independent non-profit in the state of Virginia in December 2003, and received its federal status as a 501(c)(3) in November 2005. The Rockbridge Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community dance organization. The Rockbridge Ballet provides a nurturing and creative environment for students and promotes the arts throughout the region, with goals to discover and nurture promising young dancers of diverse backgrounds, offer performance opportunities beyond dance school recitals, and train to a pre-professional level. The organization is now hiring for the 2026/2027 season for the roles of Community Outreach Coordinator and Dance Instructor.
