Lorton Community Center Youth Programs and Camps

Lorton Community Center Youth Programs and Camps offers fitness classes, gym sports such as basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, and afterschool programs. The program also includes spring, summer, and winter camps, as well as STEAM, technology, and computer instruction and teen programming. Participants have access to recreational and educational options such as art classes, billiards, table tennis, cards, board games, bingo, gardening, field trips, and job coaching and training.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Youth and teen activities are available on weekdays and weekends, with teen programs operating Monday–Thursday afternoons, extended hours on Fridays, and evening hours on Saturdays.

All programs in the sensory room are led and/or supervised by full-time Inclusion Coordinators, who are Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, along with part-time staff trained in how to use the room. All programs and sessions in the sensory room are scheduled through the Inclusion Coordinator, and families are instructed to contact the Lorton Community Center at 703-550-7195 to make an appointment. Teen center participants are mentored by positive role models, and job coaching and training are offered to support future economic independence. School Age Child Care (SACC) staff work in partnership with families and collaborate with early childhood professionals, schools, and community partners, and SACC uses a sliding fee scale to support families’ access to child care services. Therapeutic Recreation Services works in conjunction with regional services and alongside NCS Culture, Recreation, and Community Connections staff and the inclusion specialist.
