About
Lorton Community Center Youth Programs include fitness classes, gym sports, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, afterschool programs, and seasonal spring, summer, and winter camps. The program also offers STEAM, technology, and computer instruction, teen programming, recreational classes, educational workshops, field trips, job coaching, and job training.

• Schedule: Teen program hours Monday–Thursday afternoons and early evenings, with extended hours on Fridays and limited evening hours on Saturdays; weekday daytime hours for School Age Child Care and Therapeutic Recreation programs
The Lorton Community Center Youth Programs are part of a 30,000-square-foot facility that includes a gymnasium, fitness room, game room, sensory room, senior center, kitchen, multi-purpose rooms, multi-use lab, art room, pantry, and shared lobby space with the Lorton Library. The facility is co-located with the Lorton Library and Lorton Park. The sensory room is described as a person-centered, safe, and nurturing environment with a variety of sights, sounds, and interactive elements, and it is intended for individuals of all ages, particularly those with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. All sensory room programs and sessions are scheduled through the Inclusion Coordinator, and participants are instructed to contact the Lorton Community Center at 703-550-7195 to make an appointment and inquire about this space. All programs are led and/or supervised by full-time Inclusion Coordinators, who are Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, along with part-time staff trained to use the sensory room. The Lorton Community Center includes space for the Lorton Senior Center and the Lorton Community Action Center, which has served the Fairfax County community since 1975 with basic needs assistance, weekly food pantry services, emergency rent and utility assistance, seasonal programs, educational opportunities for adults and children, after school programs, and school break and summer lunch and programmatic opportunities. The Lorton Community Center opened on October 10, 2022, with a grand opening held on October 15, 2022, and the division director is Chris Scales.
