Camp Varsity

Camp Varsity is an overnight, outdoor general recreation summer camp where campers spend most of the day fully outdoors in a rustic, un-plugged environment without screens such as cell phones, laptops, or tablets. The camp setting includes a large cool spring fed lake, horses that roam on the property, and a Camp Garden that uses earth-friendly growing methods, where games are played, songs are sung in the rain, sunsets are watched over the mountains, and campers jump into the lake.

Camp Varsity first formally opened as a small athletic summer program in 1966 and has grown into a full, well-rounded traditional summer camp that averages around 135 campers per week and approximately 700–800 campers each summer. The camp’s core values are to provide a safe space to help kids gain a stronger sense of self and foster a strong connection with nature, others, and the camp community, and it maintains a “Come As You Are” culture that supports staff and campers in feeling safe and free to be themselves while valuing and respecting people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Caring for the Earth is part of the camp’s mission, reflected in practices such as composting kitchen scraps, partnering with local farmers to collect food waste after meals, recycling, and growing kitchen herbs in the Camp Garden. Camp Varsity is not open to the public, all weeks for the 2026 summer are full, and everyone on the mailing list receives camp registration information in early January.
