About
The Hurrah Players Camps and Classes include activities in theatre, acting, musical theater, dance, and TV and film. Participants take part in filmmaking, animation, photography, digital media, theatre games for acting, social games, improv acting exercises, movement, collaborative playwriting, tap, jazz, hip hop, dancing, singing, and stage craft. The Theatre Experience semester leads to an original play performance created by the group for friends and family.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Spring Break Camp runs April 14–18, 2025, and four summer camps run from June 16–27, July 7–18, July 21–August 1, and August 4–16, with camp days from 8:40–9:00am drop-off to 3:30pm dismissal and aftercare available until 5:30pm.
Hurrah TV & Film Academy is open to young creators ages 12–19 and offers hands-on training in filmmaking, animation, photography, and digital media. The Hurrah Players host more than 400 students for their spring and summer camps each year and 18,450 patrons per season at their performances. The organization has produced over 200 family-friendly shows over the last 40 years and has taught performing arts classes for 40 years.
The Hurrah Players, Inc., Virginia’s Leading Family Theatre Company, is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization committed to unite and advance communities through accessible, quality, family-friendly performances and education. The leadership team includes Founder & Artistic Director Hugh R. The Hurrah Players and Clear Vision Edutainment are teaming up to reboot the stage-play “Path to Freedom” as a fundraiser benefiting The Hurrah Players Performing Arts Academy and the TV & Film Academy Scholarship Fund. Alumni and participants have shared experiences such as Grant Gustin crediting The Hurrah Players and Hugh Copeland with helping him discover his passion and setting the track for his career and life, Adrienne Warren describing Hugh as a mentor who showed her she could tell stories and move people, and Victor Spence describing Hurrah as a place many call home with people they call family.
