VSU C.A.M.P.S (College of Education Sponsored Camps) offers multiple summer programs, including Future Trojan S.T.E.P., Sci-Tastic!, G.I.R.L.S., B.O.Y.S., VSU R.A.P.S., Unite STEAM L.I.T., G.R.O.W.S., and M.I.N.D. Prep. Each program follows its own schedule, with some meeting during daytime hours on weekdays and others running as all-day overnight sessions. Unite STEAM L.I.T. requires a full transcript and a short essay from the scholar explaining why he or she would like to attend before the registration form is completed.

• Price: Future Trojan S.T.E.P., Sci-Tastic!, VSU R.A.P.S., and Unite STEAM L.I.T. each cost $150.00; G.I.R.L.S. has a $200.00 registration fee for the June 28–30 all-day (overnight) session and $200.00 for the July 1–17 session; B.O.Y.S. has a $200.00 registration fee; G.R.O.W.S. costs $300.00; M.I.N.D. Prep costs $250.00 per week
Future Trojan S.T.E.P. runs June 8–July 2, Mondays through Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sci-Tastic! runs June 8–July 2, Mondays through Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. G.I.R.L.S. meets June 28–30 as an all-day overnight session and again July 1–17, Mondays through Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. B.O.Y.S. runs June 28–30 as an all-day overnight session. VSU R.A.P.S. runs June 8–July 2, Mondays through Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Unite STEAM L.I.T. runs June 8–July 2, Mondays through Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. G.R.O.W.S. runs July 6–10 as an all-day overnight program. M.I.N.D. Prep runs June 8–19, Mondays through Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Summer C.A.M.P.S. are powered by Virginia State University's College of Education. The programs are structured to focus on one or more of the following content areas: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM); leadership; character education; college readiness; reading; and transferable skills. Future Trojan S.T.E.P. is designed to provide interactive, culturally relevant, and integrated reading and math components and STEM activities. Sci-Tastic! is designed to increase the skills, interest, and confidence of elementary students to pursue careers in STEM fields. G.I.R.L.S. is designed to increase the skills, interest, and confidence of elementary school girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. B.O.Y.S. is designed to increase the skills, interest, and confidence of elementary school boys to pursue careers in STEM fields. VSU R.A.P.S. is designed to provide opportunities for students to increase their reading skills through culturally relevant instruction and interest in STEM. Unite STEAM L.I.T. is designed to provide students opportunities to understand and apply science, technology, engineering, and math to real-life situations. G.R.O.W.S. is designed to prepare students for college and life experience. M.I.N.D. Prep is a two-week writing SOL experience.
To register, families must first submit the scholar's information form, after which an email summary and payment directions are sent. The information form and payment must be submitted by May 15, 2026. For Unite STEAM L.I.T., a full transcript and a short essay from the scholar are required before completing the form. Virginia State University has been an institution since 1882 and holds several recognitions, including being ranked the #5 public HBCU nationally and #11 HBCU nationally (public and private) for 2026 by U.S. News & World Report and HBCU Times, an R2 Carnegie Research Designation, and placement in the top 13% of Best Bang for the Buck Colleges in the Southeast by Washington Monthly.
