R.O.C.K. Club’s mission is to support the family structure by providing quality Christ-centered care in a loving environment, with a vision to serve the communities of Radford, Montgomery County, and Pulaski County by offering exceptional faith-based child care for children aged three to twelve. The program states that it provides a balanced program that has been carefully designed to meet the needs of the whole child spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially, and that it equips children with tools necessary to succeed academically and in life. The program describes its environment as loving, supportive, and flexible, with a goal of providing each child with an abundance of love and support, and offering assistance to help guide children in their spiritual development as basic Biblical principles are shared.

Radford’s R.O.C.K. Club has been serving families throughout Montgomery and Radford County, Virginia for over 16 years and serves children from ages three to twelve, including areas in Montgomery County and Pulaski County. Christopher (Chris) Blackburn is the Director and also serves as Pastor Chris Blackburn, and he and his wife Tina have been leaders within the community since August of 2008, serving as the children’s pastor at Compassion Radford (formerly Radford Worship Center). Chris Blackburn has a Master’s Degree in Christian Education and received his B.S. in Communication (Speech) with a Minor in History and Political Science from Radford University in 1993.

The program maintains a staff-to-student ratio of 1:10 to 1:15. There is always at least one staff member present in each classroom and on every trip who is certified in First Aid and CPR by the American Red Cross. The program hires staff who are specially trained and educated in the field of child development, have previous experience in child care, have at least a high school diploma for full-time employees or are pursuing a high school diploma for part-time employees, love the Lord Jesus and have a deep devotion to Him, are physically and mentally capable of working with young children, and are dedicated to the mission of the program. Tutoring is open to children in first through sixth grades.

The program includes a Before & After School Program that offers a safe environment to learn, play, and grow. A Summer Program is available as an all-day, Christ-based program open to all school-aged children up to age twelve. One testimonial from Director Christopher Blackburn states, “With the Lord’s help, we want to become one of the friendliest places a child can come to after school each day in Radford. We want to be the kind of place that you are proud to have your child attend.”
